Countdown to Nominations Close

Nominations for the NEiTA 2010 ASG Inspirational Teaching Awards are closing and time is running out for communities to say a big ‘thank you’ to teachers who make a difference.

Nominations closing date:
Friday 30 July.

Online nominations will be accepted until 12.00 noon (AEST), Monday 2 August. Postal nominations must be postmarked by 30 July.

Nominating a teacher is a great way to say thank you and to recognise, celebrate and congratulate an inspirational teacher, principal or director.

This year, under the theme ‘Great Teachers Lead The Way’, NEiTA aims to acknowledge the leadership qualities that inspirational teachers bring to their work and the teaching profession.

Australian parents, school councils, committees of management, parent associations, secondary student councils, and community organisations.

About NEiTA

The Australian Scholarships Group (ASG) formed NEiTA (National Excellence In Teaching Awards) in 1994 to conduct a program of national awards honouring exemplary teachers in Australian schools and early childhood centres.

The awards promote public recognition of the teaching profession and specifically those teachers and leaders whose inspirational approach to education stimulates student learning.

NEiTA is Australia’s only national community-centred teaching awards program that gives Australian secondary students, parents, early childhood education, and school communities the opportunity to formally thank their hard-working, inspirational teachers, principals and directors.

Every year the program calls on parents, school councils, committees of management, student councils and local community organisations to identify teachers, principals and directors who are an inspiration to their students, to their peers and to their community.

"The power of the NEiTA nomination cannot be underestimated. Acknowledgement by your school community is the most inspiring form of recognition an educator can receive. The opportunity to work and develop with recognised teachers from around the world at the International Space Camp was a highlight of my teaching career."
