Queensland:

The Foundation received record nominations for outstanding teachers from schools as remote as the Torres Strait Islands and including a number from regional centres such as Mt.Isa, the Atherton Tablelands, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and the Darling Downs. Teachers selected for Regional Awards reflect the quality of nominations and recognise the achievements of teaching specialists as well as those of preschool, general primary and secondary teachers.

Awards and prizes were presented at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Brisbane, by Queensland Senator The Hon. John Herron representing Dr David Kemp, Federal Minister for Education, Training and Youth Affairs.

Mrs. Jo-Anne Miller MP Parliamentary Secretary to the Queensland Minister For Education congratulated the teachers on their awards.
