Victoria
/ Tasmania:
Well regarded teachers from both metropolitan and country Victoria and from
Tasmania were nominated by grateful school and local communities. Nominations were spread in Tasmania from the North-East to south of Hobart
and in Victoria from Lakes Entrance to Horsham with some small towns such as
Kyabram nominating several teachers. Local newspapers and radio stations also supported the awards especially on the Mornington peninsula. Regional
awardees reflect the quality of teachers nominated. The awards were
presented on behalf of the Foundation by the Hon. Jacinta Allan, MP
Victorian Minister for Education Services, Employment and Youth Affairs.
Awardees were welcomed to the Holiday Inn, Melbourne by the Chairman of the NEITA Foundation, Mr Terry O'Connell. Professor Peter Cuttance of the Centre
for Applied Educational Research at the University of Melbourne addressed the
awards ceremony.
